In accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, which abolished Safety and Accident Prevention Week and declared the year 1967 and every year thereafter as Safety and Prevention Year, the month of March is officially observed as Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines. This annual observance aims to raise public awareness on fire safety and promote proactive measures to prevent fire-related incidents.

Anchored on the guidelines set by DepEd Order No. 72, s. 2012, also known as the Continuing Fire Safety and Awareness Program (FSAP), schools nationwide actively strengthen fire safety practices and emergency preparedness among learners, teachers, and school personnel.

As part of this initiative, Lucena West I Elementary School conducted various activities that promote fire safety and preparedness. These include fire safety orientations, inspection of electrical facilities, ensuring the availability of firefighting equipment, and the conduct of fire and evacuation drills. The school also coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), whose personnel—SFO1 Danilo N. Alpajora Jr., FO2 Reyjun R. Pedernal, and FO1 Michael Vincent A. Navela—shared their expertise on fire safety preparedness and demonstrated the proper use of fire extinguishers, providing learners with practical and hands-on experience.

Through these efforts, the school continues to foster a culture of safety, vigilance, and responsibility among learners and the entire school community.
