Lucena West I Elementary School proudly marked its 123rd Founding Anniversary on February 19โ20 with the theme โ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฑ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐: ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ ๐๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ.โ The two-day celebration highlighted Filipino culture, family unity, and the strong partnership between the school and its community.
Day 1 opened with a vibrant Street Dancing Festival Parade led by the West 1 Drum and Lyre Corps, followed by street dancing performances from Kindergarten to Grades 1โ6. Each grade presented well-known Philippine festivals such as the Niyugyugan Festival, Bangus Festival, Panagbenga Festival, Tuna Festival, Kadayawan Festival, Ati-Atihan Festival, and Sinulog Festival.
The day concluded with a cultural show, โPhilippine Dance Revolution from the โ70s to the 2020s,โ performed by teachers and selected students. The presentation showcased the evolution of Filipino dance through the decades and featured special song numbers by teachers, which delighted the audience.
Day 2 focused on strengthening family and community bonds through Family Day activities, including Zumba, Palarong Pinoy, Isang Mesa, Isang Puso (a shared family-and-teachers meal), and Family Got Talent, where families proudly displayed their skills and creativity.
Throughout the two-day celebration, various booths offering food, games, and other activities were available, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The successful celebration was spearheaded by School Principal Sir Carlos V. Villaester, with the invaluable support of MAPEH Coordinator Sir Albert A. Aureada, together with the entire teaching and non-teaching personnel, reflecting the schoolโs strong leadership, teamwork, and enduring commitment to excellence as it continues to build brighter futures together.
