On November 25, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Lucena West I teachers and learners proudly kicked off the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women by wearing orange as a symbol of hope for a future free from violence. The event opened with the Lupang Hinirang, followed by an opening prayer and inspiring remarks from Sir Bayani M. Reyes, School OIC emphasizing the vital role of the entire school community in ending violence.

Mrs. Mary Grace G. Garcia, the GAD Focal Person, led an orientation for classroom officers on the different forms of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), equipping student leaders with essential knowledge to support and advocate for their peers.

The active participation of Grade 4 and Grade 6 learners added energy and commitment, demonstrating their role in fostering a safe and respectful school environment. Equipping learners is vital as it transforms schools into safe spaces where students develop communication, empathy, and conflict resolution skills that prevent violence and challenge harmful norms early on.

The program was also beautifully entertained by Grade 2 Aster learner Claire Ellise A. Gutierrez, who performed the empowering song “I Can,” expressing themes of strength, confidence, and capability. At the conclusion of the orientation, a clear call to action urged all learners to empower themselves by knowing their rights, speaking out or reporting violence, promoting respect for women and girls, and supporting school and community initiatives to end violence. Students were encouraged to become proactive agents of change, cultivating a culture of safety, equality, and dignity for all.

This campaign is strongly supported and guided by Sir Carlos V. Villaester, the school principal, whose leadership ensures continued awareness and collective action toward the protection and empowerment of every student at Lucena West I.

Together, Lucena West I stands united to promote respect, safety, and equality through education, advocacy, and community spirit during this significant campaign.
