Graduation is more than a ceremony; it is a celebration of the sleepless nights, personal growth, and collective resilience of school and community.

The 112th commencement exercise of Lucena West I Elementary School happened last March 28, 2026 at Quezon Convention Center with the theme, “Pilipinong Nagsipagtapos: Handang Mamuno nang may Kakayahan at Mabuting Pagkatao.”.

The said graduation rites were attended by the top management of Division of Lucena including Engr. Edenia O. Libranda- Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Benjie C. Rivera- Administrative Officer V, Dr. Dexter M. Valle – EPS in Mathematics, Maricon Nantes Teñido – PSDS, school heads, parents and guests.

Carlos V. Villaester, Principal II gave the welcome remarks highlighting the acceptance of changes and optimism of the Class 2026. He emphasized that the school produce learners who are academically prepared and possess strong moral values to lead. Also, he delivered the commitment of the school to equip learners with essential knowledge, values, and skills beyond just academic achievement.

The confirmation of 610 graduates was approved by Susan DL. Oribiana- Schools Division Superintendent. While Engr. Edenia O. Libranda- Assistant Schools Division Superintendent delivered the message made by Sonny Angara, DepEd Secretary.

Atty. Azela Asilo-De Chavez, Gintong Ani of 1991 and guest speaker, delivered her speech with passion and integrity. She discussed on how a school can shape graduates be academically prepared and deeply committed to serving the Filipino people. She highlighted the importance of values, integrity, and moral uprightness in leadership. “Ngayon pa lang isipin na nating kung ano ba talaga ang mahalaga sa buhay. What are your values? For these values shall provide us with anchor in our life para hindi tayo maligaw ng landas. Kahit saan man tayo liparin ng ating mga pangarap, magiging masaya tayo dahil buo ang ating pagkatao. Tama ang pinahahalagahan natin sa buhay and it is important to build your character”, Asilo-De Chavez added.

The awarding of diplomas and medals to the students was graced in the midst of the program with applause, joy and pride.

Carl Raphael M. Cusi, grade 6 student took the lead in reciting the “Panunumpa ng Katapatan”.

Before the program ended, the students showed their gratitude by singing “Hiraya”, led by selected Grade 6 graduates.

The ceremony was simple and meaningful, avoid extravagant expenses, in light of economic challenges. In line with this, the program justified a holistic approach to education, focusing on both academic ability and moral integrity. The goal of DepEd was achieved to produce graduates who are not only successful personally but also committed to serving their communities and contributing to nation-building.
